Gucci's Lucky Star

Madonna tapped to host New York flagship store opening

(NEW YORK) From Material Girl to champion of world causes, Madonna has come a long way. And on February 6, the global pop icon will join forces with Gucci to host a fundraising event to celebrate the opening of the Italian fashion brand's largest store in the world, the new flagship on Fifth Avenue and 56th Street.Co-hosted by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, the evening will benefit Raising Malawi, the organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty founded by Madonna in 2006 when she adopted her son David Banda, and also UNICEF. Joining Madonna and Giannini as co-hosts for the affair will be Salma Hayek and her fiancé, PPR chief executive officer François-Henri Pinault, Adrien Brody, Téa Leoni, Lucy Liu, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow, financier Arpad Busson, and economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs."I am grateful that Gucci is joining forces with me to bring attention to a country with millions of children in desperate need of our help," said Madonna. "Raising Malawi has already done tremendous work in helping these children. But we have much more to do and this event will surely bring us closer to our goal."The celebratory evening will consist of dinner, followed by a guest speaker, music performance, and an after-party, details of which were not released."We are honored to have Madonna host this very special event with us, celebrating the opening of our New York Fifth Avenue flagship store while generating funds for Raising Malawi and UNICEF," said Mark Lee, CEO of Gucci, the evening's sole underwriter. "At this significant moment in Gucci's history, we are proud to continue our commitment to a cause of great importance to the company."Gucci and Madonna, both of whom share a commitment to the fight against AIDS and to supporting underprivileged children, first joined forces in 1997, when the singer served as honorary co-chair of the record-breaking Gucci fundraising event for AIDS Project Los Angeles. Gucci aligned itself with UNICEF in 2004, initiating several special holiday campaigns and products--including this year's limited-edition Indy bag--with a portion of proceeds benefiting UNICEF programs in Malawi and Mozambique.

Sex and the City update

We've been watching with bated breath as pictures arrive from New York of Sarah Jessica Parker and co filming Sex and The City: The Movie. The outfits so far have been spectacular, as have the rumours. Apparantly one of the ladies will die at the end of the movie, Charlotte has a baby of her own at last, and one of the girls gets a visit from a 21-year old she had adopted after a date rape in her teens (and apparantly the girl is a red head...!) But the most exciting thing we've seen so far is the transformation of Carrie from a blonde to a brunette, in the space of just two days filming.

Fashion Burglar

O.M.G he's struck again. Last week we reported that a fashion burglar has been terrorising the fashion industry, from smash and grab attacks on Mayfair stores, including Luella's new boutique, to midnight raids on Christopher Kane's studio. Now, he (or she, because lets face it this robber does have great taste) has made another move. And we were shocked and stunned to discover it was at one of our favourite stores in Mayfair, just as we were about to take a, yay it's payday Friday lunchtime stroll over there last week. The raider has now hit Marc Jacobs' Mount Street store in London. Arriving on a moped, smashing the front window and grabbing new season clutches and totes from the front of the store before speeding off...who could be next? Source www.elleuk.com

The Devil beats Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe has been dropped by the management agency that represents her, and has propelled her to uber-stylist status. She has not only styled nearly every star in Hollywood, but worked on catwalk shows with Julien Macdonald, released her own style bible, The A to Zoe of Style, and become creative director, along with Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon, of revived US luxury label, Halston. So, of course you would be right to ask...erm why? Apparantly, they were not impressed with an interview Zoe gave in which she said, because she dresses celebrities people tell her she is more important than English editor of US Vogue, Anna Wintor. Sadly for Zoe the formidable editor does seem to be more important...we'll you've seen The Devil Wears Prada haven't you? Source www.elleuk.com

Style Off!!

As the winter months begin to draw closer, there's no need to start folding your minidresses away just yet. The autumn/winter shows saw models sporting them. Just team them with thick tights, and you've got an item that will see you through all the way till next year while still being bang on trend.
Check out these pictures of celebrities sporting minidresses with the graphic print this summer.
Who does it best?

One thing's confirmed......

......high waisted trouser are definitely in for another season. Give your skinnies a well deserved rest and dust of your high waisted trousers because they're here to stay this winter.

Coat of the Season

These are exclusive pictures from Rihanna's new video 'Hate that I love you' ft Ne-Yo. Forget the music, what I'm more concerned with is the deliciously gorgeous trench she's wearing. In the video Rihanna not only sports the new season must have Yves Saint Laurent trench, she's also seen wearing the celebrity staple handbag of the past few seasons; the Yves Saint Laurent's Downtown bag.

Lovin' the video already!

Elton John Aids Foundation Benefit

Petra Nemcova, pictured here at the Elton John Aids Benefit proves why the A-Line dress is a wardrobe staple and hides a number of sins for us mere mortals.

Manolo Fairy

Renee Zellweger has a big heart. Wendy Faracino, a Bobbi Brown makeup artist at Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton, was on her break and looking at a pair of Manolo Blahniks when Zellweger strolled up and the two began talking about shoes. Barely 15 minutes after she went back to work, Faracino was approached by the shoe department’s manager with a gift-wrapped box. “These are compliments of Renée Zellweger. She wanted you to have them,” he said. Inside were the Manolos she’d been admiring.

Does anyone knows where this dress is from?

They tried to make her go to rehab.....

.......The fashion police are saying NO NO NO
Like the rest of the fashion contingent, Lindsay Lohan has always been one of my guilt pleasures (and secrets untill now).
L-Lo is the epitome of a fashion whore, and for that alone, she's one of my fave celebs, drug scandals and drink driving scandals aside. But these recent pictures showing Lindsay sporting a cigarette in hand and in a basic jeans and jacket combo are a far cry from the sexy Lindsay we've all grown to love.
Get better Lindsay, but bring the old you back.

JLo's ARENA shoot

I know this is supposed to be a fashion sit but I just had to post these pics of JLo in ARENA.The fashion story itself is uninspiring but I'm a sucker for the Latina Diva.

Angelina for St Johns

Angelina looks stunning, if not a bit skinny and over-airbrushed but none the less, she does looks good.

Tyras Back

Ok she makes fashion mistakes like the rest of us, but I'll always have a softspot for the one time supermodel and America's Next Top model creator Tyra Banks. The ex model launches the new season of her hit chat show 'The Tyra Banks Show', deciding to move to New York rather than stay in Los Angeles. These pictures of her NYC photocall remind me of why she's an inspiration in fashion and as a person and TV personality. Awww Tyra
